Two New Pinoy Heroes

New Year.  New Heroes are newly added.
They have contributed a lot for our country, Philippines which really make us, Filipinos proud!

Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao’s victory or even his fight to Erik “El Terible” Morales itself caused a big impact to all Filipinos.  There was no traffic in the Philippines at that moment.  Zero crime rate. All the people were united for once!  But d*mn those policitians who were trying to squeeze in but duh… enough about ‘em.  It’s really a difficult thing to do if you will unite a bunch of people but look what Manny did, he united the 7,000 + islands of the Philippines! Amazing! 

I can really see that Manny is not just fighting for himself.  He’s fighting for his fellowmen unlike Erik Morales who said on one of his interviews that he must win for himself first before for his country.  Plus, Manny’s offering the fight for God.  Amen!

During the fight, I was so nervous.  I felt it too with the singer who sang the National Anthem who did not make it pitch-perfect.  I know she was  nervous too but thanks God she cheered at the end like, “Go Manny! Laban Pacman!”
Pacquiao was superb in his fight!  It was a fair game!  He was quicker and stronger.  Super punch that can cause a knockout! Well-deserved victory!

I know he’s been through hard training.  I heard he skipped a lot of special occasions like Christmas and his birthday.  And it was not a smooth trip to the top.  He met defeats along his way.  Determination and patience are his key to victory.  His sacrifice really paid off!

I’m not only proud of Manny’s victory but it’s his charming personality that captured my attention to him.  He is a humble and generous person.  And man he got that “attitude”.  His carabao English is not that bad actually.  More practice Manny! And in one of his interviews, he was asked about his character and attitude of staying humble since then.  He answered so honestly that he’s also boastful/show-off.  I’m like oh… “You’re The Man!”

I don’t like Manny being over commercialized.  It’s not only that he had lots of endorsements deals and TV commercials.  This man is trying to be a triple treat now!  Boxing, singing and acting.
I have nothing against with his sidelines.  If he can sing, then go.  If he can act, then go.  But I won’t dig to those stuffs that he will do.  He’s already great in the ring!

God bless Manny.  He’s the kind of person who knows how to give back.  But for me, he already did great! My support to him doesn’t need his payment or reward.  He draws the Philippines to the world map!

From celebrating, to mourning…

We lost a genius, the walking encyclopedia, the weatherman, baron antenna inventor, Mr. Ernie Baron.
He had a peaceful death.  According to his daughter, that was the kind of death he wanted.  He didn’t want to be hospitalized and had those injections…
Now, he rests in peace.

He is really a great lost.  His intelligence brought the media to another level.
I will really miss him.  He’s been part of the Philippine TV.  Nobody can replace him.
When I watch weather updates, I’ll always be reminded of him.  And eventhough he was so cheesy sometimes on his show “Knowledge Power”, he had inspired so many people.
May his legacy continues… “Kung Walang Knowledge, Walang Power” (If you have no knowledge, you have no power)

Manny Pacquiao and Ernie Baron.  The living and the dead.  Both heroes of their own right.  Both came from nothing.  Now, they are part of Philippine history.  If they did it, we can do it too.  We can be the next new heroes of our generation.  Good luck!

My Sinulog 2006

Last January 15, 2006, I just stayed at home watching TV.  That’s my usual Sinulog I guessed since high school.  But during the Sinulog eve, I had so much fun! I had another adventure with my friends in school! We watched Mr. Campus Face 2006 @ Cebu Coliseum because our school was one of the sponsors. So we did our task again of distributing flyers to the people.

On our way to the event, we were just walking because some of the roads were closed due to the processional of the Señor Sto. Niño.  It was us against the crowd! We never meant to go with the procession but it was the Holy Child, Señor Sto. Niño who met us!

January 14, 2006 - Sinulog Eve @ School and Mr. Campus Face 2006 (Visayas Finals)

I woke up so early that morning because I knew that in the afternoon, there will be a heavy traffic due to the processional of the Señor Sto. Niño.  I didn’t want the same thing will happen to me last year.  I had a hard time riding in a jeepney!

I wore black that day.  I thought I was so plain so when I arrived at school, I stroll around the mall to find a red necklace to match with my hot pink earrings.  Then I found an eye-catching necklace.  I thought it was unique and trendy so I bought it!

Then I went back to school to finalize everything for the Sinulog Window Display Contest that we were participating.

( It’s supposed to be only me and Jose [in glasses] that would be wearing black because we will supposed to do a Sinulog Dance which was cancelled due for some lame reasons! But Keith and Trexy [with henna tattoo in hand] joined the blackness! wehehehe )

I thought it was just another ordinary day in school.  I helped my fellows working stuffs for the Sinulog Contest, rehearsed for the dance, and posed with my friends…

And then, a surprise came.  The school Technical Manager gave us free VIP tickets for the One Hot Sinulog Night Party.  We did not know that our school was one of the sponsors of the event.  So we were given a task to distribute flyers to the people.  We really enjoyed that night…so much!  I’ve never been a VIP before!  We were so relaxed and got no pressure in going backstage, sneaking at the dressing room, posing with the models and more!   Some people even booed us…to hell with them!  They were just insecured!   So, enjoy these pics:

( The Flops with Asia Laurel, a model and a runner-up of Mossimo Bikini Summit ‘04!  She’s really nice and so down to earth.  she was the only one we approached that introduced herself to us.  "feeling close"  we are now "friendster".  she’s stunning!  i guessed her hair was her best asset because she looked like a goddess! she even said we had the same hair? hahahah and i kept teasing her…Rubi! wehehehe )

i’m so tired this week.  so busy preparing for the sinulog…

 oh gosh wait… im not gonna go further because we were just given free VIP passes for the SINULOG HOT NIGHT PARTY with Maui Taylor and Pinoy Big Brother Housemates, Rico and Say! Arrghhh… Sam and Cass are supposed to be here!!!

There are also Cebu’s Hot, Sexy Models and Best Bands!

Our school will participate in the Sinulog Window Display Contest.  The theme is… “One beat.  One Dance.  One Vision.”
So share your creativity.  Help me (us) come up with a concept on what stuffs we will display that will fit to the theme.
